WEDNESDAY, JUNE 11
Arrival and registration begin in the early afternoon, and four concurrent workshops follow shortly thereafter. Repair mucho-honchos Frank Ford and Dan Erlewine present Why You Want a Metal Lathe and Milling Machine, plus the legendary Fretting Demo. Tom Ribbecke will talk about Fitting Archtop Braces the Easy Way. James Condino presents Brontosaurus 101: A Guitar Maker Builds an Upright Bass, and Jason Lollar and Erick Coleman share their knowledge of Guitar Electronics. Wednesday activities wrap up with a concert by jazz guitarist Neil Andersson of Pearl Django fame. Late-night open mikes for electric, steel string, and nylon string guitars will follow the concerts on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights (specifics TBA). We keep the lutherie info, fun, and fellowship happening all day and into the night, so take your vitamins!

THURSDAY, JUNE 12
Two information sessions happen each morning, either a single lecture or several presentations running concurrently. Dana Bourgeois starts the morning with his lecture on Techniques for Voicing the Steel String Guitar. In the second session we'll have three presentations: A panel on The Archtop Guitar: Three Perspectives on the Present and Future will be presented by prominent archtop builders Steve Grimes, Ted Megas, and Tom Ribbecke; Jim Buckland will share his research into 19th-Century Lutherie Techniques; and Erick Coleman and Elliott John-Conry will present Electric Guitar Hardware Upgrades, Choices, and Setup Tips.
The real convention action starts Thursday afternoon with our convention Exhibition, which runs four hours per day for three days. This is where luthiers show and see the latest instruments; visit the many suppliers; and learn, share, and shmooze. The benefit auction preview is also during exhibition hours. In addition to the exhibition there will be workshops running during the afternoon. Frank Ford and Dan Erlewine are back, with help from Brian Michael, to tackle Structural Guitar Repair and Acoustic Guitar Pickup Installation. Eugene Clark will have a Q & A on the Spanish Solera. On Thursday evening, James and Karen Buckland return to give a concert on 19th-century guitars. A late-evening open-mike session follows.

FRIDAY, JUNE 13
Friday starts with three concurrent workshops. Dana Bourgeois returns to present a hands-on workshop on Voicing the Steel String Guitar. Veteran lutherie teacher and innovator Charles Fox reveals Wood Bending Techniques Old and New. And Hawaiian ukulele Kahuna Bob Gleason shares Ukulele Making for Guitar Makers. Then in the late morning session the choices will be a panel of Harry Fleishman, Veronica Merryfield, and David Minnieweather discussing Electric Basses and Electric Upright Basses: Transition and Innovation in Bass Design; a session of Classical Guitar Listening moderated by Cyndy Burton; and Roger Siminoff on Understanding Tap Tuning.
The Exhibition runs again Friday afternoon, and workshops will include Archtops, A Low-Stress Approach presented by Steve Grimes and a Bass Listening Session moderated by Harry Fleishman. Michael Gurian will give a workshop on the Life and Work of Tom Humphrey. In the evening we'll enjoy a great concert by teenage classical guitar phenom Travis Johnson and a return of the guitar/oud duo Tarik and Julia Banzi. Another late-evening open-mike session follows.

SATURDAY, JUNE 14
Saturday starts with Joseph Curtin lecturing on New Directions in Violin Making. Joseph continues with a hands-on workshop on Measuring Sound Radiation from Stringed Instruments, while Steel String Listening with Mike Doolin and Evolving the Mandolin Soundboard with Graham McDonald run concurrently.
This is the last day of the Exhibition and the one day that the public is invited to see the show. The "silent" part of the Guild Benefit Auction in the afternoon will clear out lots of items at rock-bottom prices in preparation for Saturday evening's event, the live portion of the always fun Guild Benefit Auction, where you snag the fabulous wood, tools, and original art treasures donated by your fellow members.

D'Addario R&D guru Fan Tao lectures on Strings: The (Often) Forgotten Accessory followed by classical guitar maker Michael Cone lecturing on Practical Acoustics: An Oxymoron? All that's left is the Guild Headquarters open house in the afternoon and saying so long till next time!
